Launch of ICMA Australia in July 1997 at the function held at Hotel Galadhari in the presence of distinguished accounting professionals and the Past Presidents of the Institute of Chartered Accountants – Sri Lanka. Leon Duval, CEO of ICMA Australia, Prof Janek Ratnatunga, Chair of Education Committee were present at the event.

ICMA Australia entered in to a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka to provide technical collaboration to conduct Management Development Programmes. The first course on Advanced Management Accounting and Advanced Strategic Accounting was conducted in July 1997 at the ICASL Management Development Center and 12 participants successfully completed the examinations.

Academy of Finance was officially launched at a ceremony held at Hotel Renuka in the presence of more than 50 ICMA Australia Members and students, on the 19th of July 2009. Prof Janek Ratnatunga and Kapila Dodamgoda unveiling the official Academy of Finance – “The Gurus of Financial Wisdom” logo.
